The Centre for Experimental Social Sciences (CESS) is an inter-disciplinary research Centre at Oxford University engaged in laboratory experimental work in the social sciences. The research tool used in the Centre is laboratory experiments in which paid human subjects engage in decision-making tasks.
On this site you can register to participate in experiments. Participants in experiments receive payment for their time and effort. In addition, as the results from these experiments are used for scientific publications, your participation helps research in the University of Oxford.
In order to participate, you first need to subscribe to the participants database via this web site (click on register in the menu on the left side). Every now and then you will receive a message inviting you for a specific experiment. At that moment you can decide whether you want to participate in a specific experiment (see Rules).
On the left column you can find information about upcoming experiments (Calendar), read some common rules applying to all experiments and our privacy policy, as well as learn more about social science experiments and how to register (FAQ).
CESS is located at 3 George Street Mews on the 2nd floor.
